QuickBooks Connection

See the Connector Marketplace topic. Please request your administrator to start a trial or subscribe to the Premium QuickBooks connector.

QuickBooks, as an Intuit product, upholds the values of simplicity and organization in business finances.

This topic describes how to authenticate to QuickBooks and configure any necessary connection properties in the QuickBooks connection connector.

Connection Configuration

Each connection property available in the QuickBooks connector is explained below.

Connection Name

The name of the connection to be created should be provided. This is the name that will display on the list of available connections.

URL

The URL for the QuickBooks Gateway. For example, http://localhost:8166.

The address is the name or IP address of the machine where QuickBooks is running. By default, the QuickBooks Gateway runs on port 8166.

Company File

The name of the CompanyFile to open.

If QuickBooks is not currently open with a CompanyFile, QuickBooks will be automatically opened in the background with the file specified.

Do not set CompanyFile when QuickBooks is open. If QuickBooks is open through the application UI, only the currently opened CompanyFile may be used. If you are connecting to a remote company file, the CompanyFile parameter will be ignored. Specify the company file when you create a QuickBooks Gateway user.

Application Name

The name of the developer’s application.

This name will appear when the application first connects to QuickBooks. QuickBooks will display this name and prompt the user to grant or refuse access to the application.

User

A username for the QuickBooks Gateway connection.

The QuickBooks Gateway must require user authentication before this property is used.

Password

A password for the QuickBooks Gateway connection.

The QuickBooks Gateway must require user authentication before this property is used.

Enable SSL

Option for creating the connection with SSL enabled.

Upload Keystore File

Option to upload keystore file.

Advanced Configurations

This section contains advanced configuration parameters.

Delay After Close

A delay in milliseconds to be applied each time a connection to QuickBooks is closed.

If QuickBooks is generating internal errors (in particular with automatic login), setting this delay to a positive value may solve the problem.

QBXML Version

The version of QBXML used in the outgoing message.

Use RDS

Whether the provider will connect using Remote Data Sharing (RDS).

The RDS client and server must be configured separately. Cannot be used together with the QuickBooks Gateway.

Add Configuration: Additional properties can be added using this option as key-value pairs.

After entering all the details, click on the TEST button.

If the connection service identification and authentication details are provided correctly, a success message stating “connection available” is generated.

Click on the CREATE button to save the changes.

If the details are incorrect or the server is down, you will get a message “Connection unavailable”.
